Q.1 I want to schedule my deployment tasks on SAT / SUN. I created a new Calendar (weekend working) which I applied to task 5.1 on WBS (row 33) however the task is being rescheduled to some other day but not the weekend as I wanted. I have attached the file for your reference. Appreciate your help on this. (Fri, Nov 21, 2008 at 3:05 PM, Aman )

Ans. I checked your weekend working calendar. It is not correctly defined. You have defined SAT/SUN as working however you didn't make the other days as non -working which leaves project to schedule it on any day in the project.

Q.2 I want to create an installation task on my project such that it is scheduled uninterruptedly whenever it starts. My problem is if the predecessor tasks finishes at 12 in the afternoon than the installation task starts after but it is only scheduled until 5 pm and the remaining duration is scheduled on the next day as the task is estimated to take 10 hours. Pls guide on how to model this scenario. (Mon, Mar 9, 2009 at 1:15 PM, Amlesh )

Ans. Use 10ehr instead in the duration column. EDAY or EHour is an elapsed duration and Microsoft Project will schedule the task continuously without interrupting.

Q.3 I have entered my project Title in File, Properties. But I still can’t see the top level task that summarizes my project. Can you please help? (Apr Tue 21, 2009 at 11:15 AM, Rashmi )

Ans. Check Tools->Options->View tab and ensure you have Show Project Summary Task CHECKED. The Properties->Title is used to name the Task but displaying the task is enabled by the setting under Options.

Q.4 All my tasks are being created on “Fri 8 Jan 09” where as I entered my Project Start Date as “Mon 11 Jan 09”. I want my project tasks to be scheduled from my project start date. Please help. (Fri May 8, 2009 at 12:30 PM, Pankaj )

Ans. Please Check Tools->Options->Schedule tab and ensure you have New Tasks: Start on Project Start Date. It could be currently set to Start from Current Date.
